Dublin City Council has retaken possession of the former home and shop of 1916 Rising leader Tom Clarke on Amiens Street after 12 alleged trespassers vacated the property, the High Court heard. The matter was adjourned by Mr Justice Brian Cregan.
The council told the court an undertaking to leave had been agreed. After inspecting the building, it found slightly more damage than expected, which its barrister said would not be an issue. The council had sought to inspect the property for damage from Storm Éowyn or the occupants.
The council bought the Georgian building in 2018 for €630,000, intending to turn it into a museum and community centre. Restoration work had not begun after a selected contractor withdrew in 2023; the council had said it was anxious to revive the plan.
