This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Colie Conneely was awarded €66,300 in damages by the High Court, reported on 1 November 2018, after a workplace trip in Galway.

Mr Conneely said he tripped on a raised lip between a paving slab and adjoining drainage channel at the Thermo King factory entrance while returning from lunch. He suffered shoulder, hip and knee injuries, required surgery and was unable to work for 17 weeks.

The company denied liability and argued that he had contributed to his injuries. Mr Justice Denis McDonald found a 10mm differential had caused the fall and held Thermo King Ireland Ltd fully liable, with no contributory negligence.

The court award was €66,300.
