This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Christopher McDonald was on trial for murder at the Central Criminal Court on 4 July 2017, when evidence of his DNA was given.
The DNA was identified on the inside and outside of a clear plastic glove and on a black wig found beside a sub-machine gun in a Blanchardstown laneway. The items were recovered four days after Keith Walker was shot in the car park of the Blanchardstown Pigeon Racing Club on Shelerin Road, Clonsilla.
A forensic scientist said the chance of an unrelated person having the same DNA profile was considerably less than one in one thousand million. The glove and wig also tested positive for firearms residue similar to residue found at the shooting scene, although no firearms residue was found on Mr McDonald. The report records that he had pleaded not guilty and that the trial was continuing.
