Christopher Carthy was jailed for four years for sexual assault at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 18 October 2022. The assault took place near a Luas stop in Dublin city on 1 April 2021.

The judge said Carthy took advantage of the woman’s vulnerable position and described his actions as gravely reprehensible. The court noted he had no previous convictions for sexual violence and considered another offence of this kind unlikely.
