The High Court ruled that €17,000 found in Jeremy Skerritt’s apartment was proceeds of crime. The proceedings were reported on 19 December 2018. Ms Carmel Stewart appointed a receiver over the money.
The Criminal Assets Bureau seized the cash during a search of Mr Skerritt’s apartment on North Circular Road, Dublin 7, on 7 April 2016. Mr Skerritt did not contest CAB’s application under Section 3 of the 1996 Proceeds of Crime Act and was not present at the hearing.
CAB said Mr Skerritt had not claimed ownership of the money or explained where it came from, and had been put on notice of the application. CAB argued that the cash came from the sale and supply of controlled drugs.
