Chartered accountant Brian Carrig had more than €5m in debt written off under a High Court Debt Settlement Arrangement on 2 October 2023.
The arrangement allowed him to pay about €15,000 towards the debt; creditors were to receive 0.32% of what they were owed.
It was set to last six months and was funded by a €20,000 lump sum, including payment to his personal insolvency practitioner.
Carrig sought the arrangement after a pub business he was involved with in Dublin encountered financial difficulties.
His creditors included Everyday Finance, Cabot Finance and a trade creditor. He was also to forfeit the lease on the pub premises.
None of his creditors had voted to accept or reject the proposal, and the court approved the arrangement without objections.
