This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Riad Bouchaker’s sentencing hearing began at the Central Criminal Court on October 12, after a jury found him guilty in July of eight offences arising from the Parnell Square attack, including attempting to murder three children. Victim impact statements were heard from family members and childcare worker Leanne Flynn.

The prosecution said four convictions, including the three attempted murder convictions and the assault causing serious harm to Flynn, could each attract a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. The defence asked the court to consider Bouchaker’s cognitive and intellectual limitations. Justice Tony Hunt said he had much to consider and deferred sentencing until November 16.
