Barry Fergal Jennings has no convictions on six sexual assault counts after the DPP entered a nolle prosequi on 1 December 2023.

The proceedings were reported on 19 May 2023. The Court of Appeal had quashed his conviction after Ms Justice Isobel Kennedy found the jury had not been properly directed on complaint evidence, which was not evidence proving the allegations or corroborating the complainant’s testimony.

The charges concerned alleged sexual assaults on a boy at locations in Dublin between September 1998 and December 1999. Jennings had denied the charges. There are to be no further proceedings.
