By Saoirse Doyle

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Barry Doyle lost his murder conviction appeal at the Court of Appeal on 8 June 2015.

Doyle had been convicted of murdering Shane Geoghegan in Limerick on 9 November 2008 and sentenced to life imprisonment at the Central Criminal Court.

The appeal argued that gardaí induced Doyle to make admissions, but the court rejected that argument and dismissed all 27 grounds of appeal. He was returned to prison to serve the remainder of his life sentence.
