The Court of Appeal substituted five-year sentences for Mark Kavanagh’s possession of controlled drugs for sale or supply and possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances on 8 June 2015.
One year of each sentence was suspended, and the sentences were ordered to run concurrently. The appeal followed an original three-and-a-half-year sentence for the drugs offence, with the firearms offences taken into account.
Mark Kavanagh pleaded guilty to both offences in April 2014. The proceedings were reported on 8 June 2015. The Court of Appeal said the original sentence was unduly lenient and allowed the appeal.
