This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Ann Byrne received a suspended 18-month sentence for assault causing harm and attempted robbery at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 10 October 2017. The attack happened on Burlington Road, where the court heard Byrne kicked the victim in the head and stood on her mouth when she screamed. Byrne pleaded guilty to both offences arising from the incident on 25 August 2015. Judge Karen O’Connor described the attack as violent and unprovoked. The sentence was suspended, so Byrne was not jailed immediately. Her defence said she had addiction issues at the time of the offence.
