Alan Keogh was jailed for 16 months for failing to file tax and VAT returns at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 23 July 2019.
Keogh pleaded guilty to 11 sample counts from 88 charges covering January 2010 to October 2016. Revenue officials estimated the unpaid taxes had cost the State more than €375,000. The court heard he had continued trading after cancelling his VAT registration, with payments from GLS lodged into his bank account. Judge Martin Nolan said Keogh would have been entitled to significant tax relief if he had complied with the tax code.
