Adrian Short given suspended sentence for child abuse material

Judge Melanie Greally sentenced Adrian Short to 16 months in prison, suspended in full, on 21 October 2022.

Short pleaded guilty to possessing seven images and 14 videos of child pornography at Griffeen Glen Drive, Lucan, Co Dublin, on 29 March 2021. The proceedings were reported on 21 October 2022.

The judge said the videos contained extreme material involving children as young as two. She assessed the offending as mid-range and said a probation report placed Short at low risk of reoffending.

Short was ordered to remain under probation supervision for 16 months, undergo further monitoring and risk assessments as directed, and continue counselling as directed.

The judge cited Short’s early guilty plea, cooperation, lack of previous convictions, personal history and remorse as mitigating factors.
