Aaron Broderick was jailed for 18 months for assault causing harm at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 4 October 2022.

The report said the assault happened on 27 July 2019 in Crumlin, south Dublin, as Broderick approached his former partner while she walked home. It said he threatened to stab her, forced his fingers into her mouth and pushed her over a neighbour's wall. The report also said he entered her home later that night and stole her mobile phone and clothing.

Broderick pleaded guilty to assault causing harm and admitted burglary and theft relating to the events on 27 July 2019. He also pleaded guilty to trespass concerning an incident on 25 July 2019, when the report said he entered the woman's home and used her mobile phone.

Defending counsel said Broderick regretted his actions, had abused drugs after the relationship ended, and had completed a Swiss detox programme and a violence-prevention programme.
