Aaron Brady was sentenced to three years in prison for conspiring to pervert the course of justice at the Special Criminal Court on 29 July 2024; he is already serving a life sentence for murdering Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe.
The three-year term will make no difference to the time Brady serves because of that life sentence. The murder took place in County Louth in 2013.
Dean Byrne was sentenced to two years for conspiring to persuade a witness not to give evidence. His term will begin after his existing sentences expire.
The judge said the offences interfered with the administration of justice, while noting that efforts to dissuade witnesses involved no violence, threats or inducements.
