Aaron Brady jailed for five years for perverting justice

By Orla Quinn

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Aaron Brady was resentenced to five years for perverting the course of justice at the Court of Appeal on 31 July 2026. The offending involved a recording made during his murder trial.

The court quashed Brady’s original three-year term after the State appealed, finding that the earlier sentence gave too little weight to deterrence and too much to the absence of violence.

Brady had pleaded guilty in 2024 to recording the playing of an interview with witness Ronan Flynn. A related conspiracy count involving witness Daniel Cahill was taken into consideration.

The five-year term does not change the time Brady serves, as he is already serving a life sentence for murdering Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe.
