A 34-year-old man was sentenced to 18-and-a-half years for false imprisonment, sexual assault and assault, reported on 17 May 2018. The attacks on three women occurred in Clondalkin, Dublin, in 2011, 2015 and 2016.

A court temporarily banned publication of his name for legal reasons. A jury found him guilty on all nine charges after a trial, and a portion of the consecutive sentences was suspended to encourage participation in treatment and post-release supervision.

The judge said the attacks involved intentional and deliberate extreme violence, escalated in planning and violence, and showed no remorse. The man was also ordered to complete a sex-offender programme in prison and undergo supervision after release.
