10 Jobstown protesters have charges withdrawn

By Gráinne Nolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Charges against 10 Jobstown protesters were withdrawn for false imprisonment and violent disorder at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 2 October 2017. The charges related to an anti-water-charges protest in south Dublin on 15 November 2014.

The Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew the charges after a review of the evidence following acquittals in an earlier trial. The Irish Times reported that comments about discrepancies between garda evidence and video footage made convictions in the remaining cases unlikely.

A separate criminal-damage accusation against Dylan Collins remained outstanding, with his case due to be heard on 20 November 2017. The report also said a garda inquiry into alleged leaks about those charged was ongoing.
