Who is my TD?

Choose your county, then your town. You don't need an Eircode.

Choose a constituency to see all its TDs and contact details.

How to write to your TD

  1. Say which town you live in and where the problem is.
  2. Explain what happened and when. Include a route or public reference if useful.
  3. Say clearly what you want done. Keep it short and specific.
  4. Check To and CC before sending. Leave out health details and other people's names.
  5. Keep a copy and use the responsible body's own complaints channel too.

Questions about contacting your TD

How do I find my TD?

Choose your county and town above. Constituencies can split towns and counties, so check your address on the Electoral Commission map if we show more than one possibility. Every constituency has several TDs.

How do I email a TD?

Open an email button, add your town and describe the problem, where it happened and what you want done. Review the recipients before sending. Our address is in CC; remove it if you do not want to copy us.

How should I follow up?

Keep a copy and ask the office about the next step. Contact the responsible public body directly as well, and follow its complaint or appeal instructions.

Should I contact a TD or a councillor?

TDs deal with national laws, government policy and national services. Councillors deal with local authority decisions and local services. For an individual service request, use the responsible body’s official channel first.

Who should I contact about potholes, housing or trains?

Report local road potholes to your council; national roads may involve TII. Contact your council about social housing and the relevant provider about your own case. Report train problems to Iarnród Éireann and use its complaints process. A councillor can raise local council issues; a TD can raise national policy and service concerns.
