The Labour Court upheld international truck driver Vidmantas Mankauskas’s appeal and ordered Baku GLS Limited to pay him €3,000 compensation for a minimum wage breach. The determination was signed on 12 September 2016.

Mankauskas, who was paid €350 a week, argued that his hours brought his pay below the statutory minimum. The Court counted ferry travel with his truck between Ireland and France or the UK as working time on official business. It also awarded €1,000 for unpaid Sunday work, €500 for schedule changes without 24 hours’ notice and €250 for each of two holiday pay breaches. Two other complaints, about late work records and notification of the mobile worker regulations, were not well founded.
