Labour Court rejects Ruth Murphy’s protected disclosures appeal as out of time

The Labour Court rejected Ruth Murphy’s appeal concerning a protected disclosures complaint against Temporary Emergency Accommodation, finding that it was outside the statutory time limit. The Court affirmed the adjudication officer’s decision; the merits were not decided. Murphy’s employment ended on 20 August 2015, and she made her complaint to the WRC on 11 May 2021. She said processes concerning a data access request continued until 2022; the employer argued that the delay meant the Court lacked jurisdiction. The determination was signed on 9 February 2023.
