The Labour Court recommended no concession of A Water Caretaker’s claim that he should have been appointed to either of two supervisor vacancies at Carlow County Council. Its recommendation was dated 14 April 2026. SIPTU argued that the worker ranked first on a recruitment panel and was denied fair consideration, causing ongoing loss. The Council said there were no permanent vacancies during the panel’s life: one post was temporary and filled under its acting-up policy, while the other was filled by reassignment under a framework agreement. The Court found the Council had followed agreed policies and noted the worker raised no grievance until about eight months after the panel expired.
