The Labour Court has recommended renewed talks between Bausch & Lomb and 382 Workers over voluntary moves to four-cycle shifts at the company’s Waterford plant. The recommendation was dated 9 March 2026.
The dispute concerned about 382 long-serving general operatives covered by a collective agreement on shift arrangements. The union said the company planned to move about 34 workers from three-cycle to four-cycle shifts. The company said four-cycle shifts were needed for round-the-clock production and proposed €2,500 for workers transferred involuntarily.
The Court recommended renewed local talks on compensation for voluntary moves and that the company reopen its EPR offering to the workers concerned.
