Labour Court recommends Ryanair keep Forsa informed on European Works Council nominations

The Labour Court has recommended that Ryanair keep Forsa informed through regular meetings about developments in the election and nomination cycle for its European Works Council. The recommendation, dated 17 December 2025, followed a dispute over how Irish representatives should be selected. Forsa sought appointment of its two nominees or an agreed nomination and election process. Ryanair said the existing Special Negotiating Body representatives had agreed to continue as European Works Council representatives after the council was established in May 2025. The Court said it could not decide whether separate European Works Council legislation had been correctly interpreted or applied in this referral under the Industrial Relations Act. It noted there was no collective agreement requiring Ryanair to consult on the issues, but said the plan for the existing representatives to remain should have been flagged with the union in advance.
