The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that MRP/Market Resource Partners consider an ex-gratia payment of €250 to a worker for travel expenses. The decision was signed on 9 December 2024. The worker appealed after being dismissed for failing to follow reporting procedures and unauthorised absence. He said dismissal was too severe and sought his job back; the employer said the termination was fair. The Court said the delay in bringing the dispute and the time since the worker’s employment ended limited what it could recommend. The Adjudication Officer had found the termination was handled properly from an HR and industrial relations viewpoint and recommended the employer consider €250 for the worker’s travel expenses to the hearing. The Labour Court upheld that recommendation.
