The Labour Court recommended improved pay terms for Embecta production operatives represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU). Its recommendation, dated 9 October 2023, covers 270 Production Operatives. The Court recommended a 2% increase from 1 April 2022 and a 3.85% increase from 1 April 2023, including a 0.3% shift top-up concession, as well as a €350 tax-free voucher for each general operative. It recommended that SIPTU accept the amended proposal. SIPTU said delayed talks had left its members without a pay rise during a cost-of-living crisis and sought a two-year deal. Embecta cited its closed 2022 budget, lower demand and high wage costs. Members had rejected an earlier company offer of a 3.8% increase in a ballot.
