The Labour Court recommended that Bus Eireann apply loss-of-earnings payments to 100 clerical staff covered by an earlier agreement who had not already been paid and met its criteria. The decision was dated 14 September 2023.
The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association said the workers were entitled to payments for losses in 2017/2018. Bus Eireann argued that overtime had since increased and that earlier payments to about 15 staff reflected an expectation that overtime would cease. The Court said later increases were outside the period for assessing loss, and the agreement did not exclude seasonal or irregular overtime.
