The Labour Court recommended pay increases for about 3,000 mechanical operatives in a cost of living dispute with Mebsca, dating its recommendation 1 August 2023.
UNITE the Union sought an additional 11%, citing increased employer turnover and profitability from 2015 to 2022. Mebsca offered 3.5% from October 2023 and 1.9% from October 2024, alongside a 2.8% increase already applied on 1 January 2023.
The Court recommended a further 3.5% increase from 18 September 2023 and a 1.9% increase from 5 August 2024. It also recommended negotiations in 2024 towards a successor agreement with increases taking effect from the end of April 2025.
