The Labour Court recommended against a worker’s request for a written apology from Aura Dkit Sport, while criticising the company’s handling of her bullying and harassment complaint. Its recommendation was signed on 15 May 2023. The part-time fitness instructor and student said meetings with her manager involved intimidating behaviour and obscene language. After she confirmed her resignation, the company reviewed her complaint without inviting her to take part and concluded there was no evidence to substantiate it. The Court said it was unclear why the complaint had been directed through the grievance policy rather than the company’s bullying, harassment and sexual harassment policy. At the hearing, the company’s representative acknowledged that the complaints were serious and that the handling fell short of best practice. The worker withdrew her request for a reference after receiving a Statement of Service.
