The Labour Court recommended that the Food Safety Authority Of Ireland concede 60% of a claim valued at about €24,000 by the Association of Higher Civil & Public Servants (AHCPS), representing 20 Public Servants. The recommendation was dated 27 October 2022.
The dispute concerned accumulated arrears under a 1999 circular, which allowed a fund equivalent to 1% of payroll to pay allowances. The union sought application of the benefit for periods since 2013 when fewer than three people received an allowance. The Court found that the parties had not effectively monitored the fund between 2013 and 2017 and said both shared responsibility. It recommended that the conceded amount benefit eligible members in a manner agreed locally.
