The Labour Court recommended that Leo Pharma make a public-holiday option spread over two public holidays available to workers who took unpaid or annual leave during a two-day plant closure. The recommendation was dated 18 December 2020. The closure on 15 and 16 February 2020 was needed for essential ESB upgrade works. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought unconditional paid leave for the 86 affected workers. Leo Pharma said it could not afford that and described efforts to limit the impact, including options for workers to take annual leave, paid leave to be worked back, unpaid leave or a combination. The Labour Court recommendation is not binding.
