The Labour Court recommended two 2% pay increases for workers at Rosderra Irish Meats represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. One increase would take effect from 1 January 2017 and the second from 1 January 2018. The recommendation was signed on 22 May 2017. The union had sought an 8% increase over two years, while the company cited difficult trading conditions and the risk of an unfunded rise. The Court noted that pay rates had not changed since 2008, but said it had not received detailed analysis of the site’s finances or competitiveness. It also recommended discussions on workplace arrangements, with any financial value from agreed changes shared separately from the pay increases.
