The Labour Court recommended that Keelings Logistics Solutions and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union work with an agreed facilitator to seek changes to the company’s Attendance Control Programme and agree how a revised programme should be implemented. The recommendation was dated 15 May 2017. The union said genuine absences were not properly considered and the programme was applied inflexibly. Keelings said it aimed to keep absence at 3% but continued to record average absence of 5% to 6% at its Ballymun site. The Court recorded that four employees had been dismissed and two excluded from sick pay for 12 months since 2013 because of poor attendance.
