The Labour Court recommended that Keelings Soft Fruit Farm pay a worker €2,000 for lost earnings after it did not allow her to return to work when annual leave ended in January 2013. The court also recommended that she receive trade union representation in future grievance procedures. The recommendation was signed on 20 December 2013. The court accepted the union’s uncontested account that the company had departed unfairly from its established practice of allowing the worker to resume work after leave. The union also said the company had refused SIPTU representation during a grievance process. The company did not attend the hearing.
