The Labour Court recommended €2,500 compensation for a worker dismissed by Target Express, in a recommendation signed on 14 November 2011. The worker accepted that he had acted inappropriately but argued that the company’s procedures were unfair and dismissal was disproportionate. Target Express said he missed a delivery deadline to an important customer and then forged a signature to make it appear the delivery was on time. The Court found serious misconduct, but said the incident involved no personal gain. It also found flaws in the disciplinary process: the worker was not clearly told he could have representation, his account received scant consideration, and the time allowed for an appeal was unduly short. The €2,500 was recommended in full and final settlement of his claim.
