The Labour Court recommended that HSE South and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree a plan to end on-call working for ambulance drivers in Cork and Kerry. The recommendation was signed on 25 February 2011. The union said on-call hours posed safety risks. HSE South supported ending the system but cited staffing and funding constraints. The Court recommended that the parties agree a comprehensive plan within three months and end on-call work no later than 12 months after reaching agreement.
