The Labour Court recommended continuing the severance package paid to workers made redundant in 2009/2010 for those being made redundant at the time. The recommendation, signed on 25 January 2011, followed a claim by Williaam Cox and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for enhanced redundancy terms. The union sought six weeks’ pay per year of service under a 1984 agreement. The company said it could not afford payments above statutory redundancy amid the construction downturn. The Court recommended statutory redundancy pay plus one week’s pay at the statutory ceiling for each year of service, as had been paid to workers made redundant in 2009/2010.
