The Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept HSE South / Cork University Hospital’s offer of one extra day of leave for workers redeployed after a hospital laundry closed. The recommendation was signed on 25 November 2010. The union sought disturbance pay, saying the workers had moved to new roles at other hospitals, needed training and spent longer away from home. The employer said it had arranged support including transport, training and flexibility in work patterns. The Court found the offer of an additional day’s leave in the current year fair and reasonable and recommended that the union accept it.
