The Labour Court recommended that Dublin Keg Distributors Limited engage with Mandate on the union’s claims about pay and pensions, in a recommendation signed on 2 November 2010. Mandate sought two outstanding pay phases under Towards 2016, a 5% pay increase from October 2010 and a defined-benefit pension scheme. The company did not attend the hearing, but said in a letter that it had met the union and considered the claims without merit. The Court said the company should follow its collective agreement’s dispute process and engage with Mandate on the substance of the claims within a month. If talks failed, the dispute should proceed under the agreement and normal industrial relations procedures.
