Labour Court rejects union claim for enhanced G4S redundancy terms

The Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for enhanced redundancy terms for a worker made redundant after G4S Cash Services (Securicor) Limited moved its operation from Wexford to Waterford. The recommendation was signed on 16 July 2010. The union said the worker had no choice but to accept redundancy. The company said he had chosen that option and should receive the same package as 100 other workers made redundant. The Court noted that nationally agreed redundancy terms had applied to the other workers and found no justification for departing from them.
