The Labour Court recommended that proposals negotiated at the Labour Relations Commission be accepted in a dispute between Tesco Ireland and Mandate over Tesco’s plan to abolish the chargehand role. The recommendation was signed on 25 June 2010. Mandate sought options for chargehands to remain in their roles or move to team leader positions. Tesco said the negotiated proposals gave workers options to address the changes, apart from keeping a role that no longer existed. The Court said the proposals were comprehensive and at the limit of what could reasonably be expected of Tesco, and recommended their acceptance.
