Labour Court recommends Limerick Fire Officers move to 9/15 roster

The Labour Court recommended that Limerick City Council’s Fire Officers move to a 9/15 roster from the date proposed by management. The recommendation was signed on 1 December 2009. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought four Third Officer positions, saying they would support administrative work and help Station Officers meet training and staffing requirements. Limerick City Council disputed the need for an additional rank and cited the financial implications. The Court said disagreement over the union’s proposed additional rank had impeded implementation of an earlier roster recommendation. It recommended that the union’s aspiration for a rank above Station Officer be considered in the future, and that any residual issues be discussed after the new roster arrangements were in operation.
