The Labour Court did not recommend concession of a union claim for higher on-call rates for transplant coordinators at Mater University Hospital. The recommendation was signed on 3 June 2009. Irish Nurses Organisation sought parity with rates paid at other hospitals. Mater University Hospital said the claim would increase costs and it had no funding for an increase. The Court said any change to the existing arrangements should be pursued through the national negotiating forum because nurses' employment terms are generally set through national negotiations.
