Labour Court recommends longer back pay for Dublin Airport Authority standby allowance

The Labour Court recommended that Dublin Airport Authority increase its conciliation offer for a standby allowance from four to eight weeks’ retrospection. The recommendation was signed on 25 April 2008. It did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s separate claim for an ongoing additional increment. The union argued the allowance should run from the December 2006 agreement and that a €2,000 payment to staff at the top of the scale represented an ongoing increment. The company said the allowance related to interruptions during new rosters and the €2,000 payment was a one-off.
