The Labour Court recommended that Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council provide a new gully-cleaning machine, after a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over whether the council had agreed to buy one. The recommendation was signed on 25 February 2008. The union said its official accepted the council’s proposal by phone. The council denied an agreement existed. The Court said it could not determine whether a formal agreement had been made, but noted the union had cooperated with the contractor engagement.
