The Labour Court recommended that the Daughters of Charity accept the unions’ proposal for an independent assessment of a planned relocation of training, enterprise and employment services. The recommendation, signed on 22 December 2006, says the person or body carrying out the assessment should be agreed between the parties. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Irish Nurse Organisation raised concerns about the chosen site and its suitability for service users and staff. Management said staff, service users and families had been consulted and the facility was appropriate. The Court said the issue was outside its expertise and normally a management matter, but concluded staff concerns should not be ignored.
