The Labour Court recommended that Ditsu Trading Ltd pay each affected worker an additional €1,000 to settle a dispute over unpaid wages. The recommendation was dated 6 March 2006. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said a start-up payment was only part of an agreed package for lost wages and bonuses. DITSU disputed any commitment to pay 19 weeks’ wages and bonuses, and said it had paid the relevant awards and backdated payroll when trading resumed. Citing confusion surrounding the attempt to restart the business, the Court recommended the additional lump sum in full and final settlement of the outstanding-money claim. It recommended that other matters, including contract terms, pensions, PRSI, staffing, training and changes to employment terms, be negotiated between the parties.
