The Labour Court recommended that Jurys Doyle Hotel Group PLC pay €5,000 compensation to each existing staff member who remained after restructuring and accepted changes to work practices and rosters. The recommendation was dated 15 December 2005. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought protection for the remaining staff’s earnings and €10,000 for each member who accepted the changes. The company opposed red-circling their pay and offered €3,000 compensation for cooperation with the changes. About 280 staff had opted for voluntary severance, leaving around 52 full-time staff. The Court also recommended that the remaining staff’s current earnings be consolidated and protected, and that the voluntary redundancy package remain available until 31 January 2006.
