The Labour Court recommended that An Post pay outstanding increases under Sustaining Progress after the company and An Post Group Of Unions accepted a related work-practice agreement. The recommendation was signed on 12 July 2005. The unions sought full implementation of the pay increases. Assessors concluded An Post could pay a 5% increase from 1 January 2005 but could not afford further elements outside a restructuring agreement; the Court adopted their report. The Court recommended payment of the outstanding 2% increase from 1 February 2005 and 1.5% from 1 May 2005, with later increases paid as they fell due. It said arrears should be treated as a liability and paid when the company returned to sustainable profit and its finances permitted.
