The Labour Court did not recommend conceding two claims brought by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union against Longford County Council. The recommendation was signed on 11 July 2005. The union sought compensation for six general operatives who lost road-salting overtime and mileage for a worker who used his own car to travel between work locations. The Court said the overtime was not regular and rostered, and recommended that available overtime be shared equitably among staff in the relevant categories. It also found the worker was not required to use his private car for work.
